Congratulations on Your New Smile!

You have been given retainers to help keep your teeth aligned and looking beautiful. Proper retainer wear and care is needed to ensure you maintain that wonderful new smile.

• Wear retainers full time (18 - 20 hours daily) for 3 months, then regularly as instructed.
  
• Remove retainers while eating but NEVER place them in a napkin!
• Remove retainers while playing sports/physical activities and place them in the case provided.
• Brush retainers daily using your toothbrush, mild soap, and warm water.
• NEVER boil your retainers!
• Four-legged friends love to chew retainers, so make sure you NEVER leave them within their reach.
• Call us IMMEDIATELY if you lose or break your retainer.

Proper care for retainers is needed to ensure your retainers last as long as possible.

PLEASE BRING YOUR RETAINERS TO EACH VISIT!

Retainer wear is indefinite. If you discontinue retainer wear your teeth will shift! If you experience excessive tightness of the retainer, or notice that the teeth are shifting increase the amount of time that you are wearing your retainers. 

About 90-95% of your correction can be retained with proper wear of retainers.

We will supervise the first 9 months of your retention period. The usual sequence of appointments after active treatment is 3 months and 6 months. It is the patient’s responsibility to schedule these appointments.

If at any time a new retainer is wanted or needed you will be responsible for the current replacement fee at the time the replacement is needed.
